American Associated Pharmacies (AAP) is a member-owned cooperative of over 2,000 independent pharmacies working together like a “chain”. With locations in all 50 states, AAP has a true national presence not only within its membership, but in the industry at large.
The managed care program at American Associated Pharmacies (AAP) is designed to provide effective support to our members whether they participate in our rural, metropolitan or comprehensive networks. We created our networks of regional and national health plans to provide competitive reimbursement rates and other benefits specifically for independent pharmacies. Since 1989, United Drugs (now part of AAP) primary goal is to ensure the success and profitability of each of our members.
United Drugs operates under policies established by a Board of Directors consisting of independent pharmacy owners. United Drugs was the first member-owned cooperative to negotiate managed care contracts as a group for independent pharmacies. Now, as part of AAP, United Drugs continues to negotiate managed care contracts with the independent pharmacy in mind, as well as provide other valuable pharmacy services to AAP Members.
American Associated Pharmacies member owned warehouse operating as Associated Pharmacies, Inc (API, now a subsidiary of AAP) was developed to provide our pharmacies with the best overall cost of goods available in the marketplace.
Founded in 1987, Associated Pharmacies, Inc. (API), is a member-owned buying cooperative that features a distribution warehouse; providing independent pharmacy owners an opportunity to buy like a chain. API members take advantage of savings on brand, generic, and OTC products at discounted, volume prices. Returning millions of dollars to its customers, API also designs and implements services for its pharmacies needed to run a successful business.
