MEDICARE INFORMATION

The provisions of the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003, which established the Medicare Part D prescription, have been in effect for more than a year, and just as anticipated, community pharmacists have played a vital role in informing and assisting beneficiaries with the program.

As the program continues to grow and change, the Medicare Resource Center will continue to be the community pharmacist's one-stop source for information from CMS, continuing education related to Part D, and information on helping your patients navigate the "coverage gap."

Medicare GuideAs part of its commitment to help provide community pharmacists with tools to prepare their businesses for the new Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit, the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) has created Medicare 2006: A Pharmacist’s Reference Guide. This Guide was written specifically for community pharmacists by pharmacists and provides the tools needed to be prepared for the new Medicare prescription drug benefit starting January 1, 2006. It includes an extensive review of Medicare Part D and its implications for pharmacy practice.
