Boehringer Ingelheim has partnered with the fundraising firm ammado to launch an online platform will be used to support a project that aims to prevent atrial fibrillation-related strokes. The platform, which will be located at www.heartofstroke.com, will allow members of the public to give donations to their chosen projects. The projects that make it three-quarters of the way to their fundraising goals will receive the remaining 25 percent, up to €2,500, from Boehringer Ingelheim. €100,000 is also available for projects that achieve their fundraising goals. The Web site will be used to support a larger project called 1 Mission 1 Million -- Getting to the Heart of Stroke, which aims to prevent 1 million AF-related strokes each year. As part of that effort, 1 Mission 1 Million has also introduced petition activities, as well as story sharing activities in which people who are affected by AF or know someone who has been can share their testimony. As part of its petition activities, 1 Mission 1 Million has petitioned the World Health Organization, its member states, and health authorities around the world to see AF as being a risk factor for strokes and to establish clinical management targets that could result in better diagnosis, atrial fibrillation management, stroke prevention, and education.
