UK Body Recommends Lilly, Amylin Diabetes Drug Bydureon

The U.K.'s healthcare cost-effectiveness body has confirmed initial guidance recommending Eli Lilly and Amylin Pharmaceuticals' Type 2 diabetes drug Bydureon for use in the U.K.'s publicly funded National Health Service. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, or NICE, said the injectable medicine, known generically as exenatide, could be given in combination with certain other drugs in obese patients with a body mass index above 35, or those for whom insulin injections wouldn't be suitable.
