Investigational Hormone Replacement Promising Treatment for Rare Disorder

Researchers have released the results of a study that examined the effectiveness of using recombinant human parathyroid hormone, or rhPTH(1-84), in the treatment of hypoparathyroidism. The researchers found that using rhPTH(1-84) to treat people with this condition resulted in improved calcium regulation and reduced the amount of calcium and active vitamin D that was required in more than half of patients. The results of this study were presented at The Endocrine Society's 94th Annual Meeting.
