The Safety of COX-2 Pharmacotherapy for Patients in Pain
There are anecdotal reports about the COX-2 inhibitors of improved efficacy over the traditional NSAIDs. This program will help the practitioner identify those patients with specific risk factors, in whom the risks would outweigh potential benefits, and properly educate those for whom COX-2 use is still an option.

Self-Care Management for the Diabetic Patient: Focus on Skin & Nutrition

Strategies in the Prevention of Cardiovascular Events and Mortality in the High-Risk Older Population
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a substantial US healthcare burden, with about 40% of all US deaths annually as a result of cardiovascular events. Hypertension alone is the most common risk factor for CVD and the most frequent medical condition prompting visits to primary healthcare providers. Current initiatives examine not only pharmacologic treatment, but also lifestyle changes that are focused on the prevention of CVD in the elderly. It is to the advantage of managed care to understand potential treatment options proposed by these studies for reducing the CVD burden.
Supported through an educational grant from Wyeth and King Pharmaceuticals. |
