The Health Professional's Role in Formulary Management of Medicare Part D Benefits Starting January 1, 2006, pharmacists began to experience a multitude of new challenges associated with the new Medicare prescription drug benefit. COPD is currently considered to be the fourth leading cause of death in the USA, and it is the only one in the top 5 causes of death that continues to increase annually. Strategies in the Prevention of Cardiovascular Events and Mortality in the High-Risk Older Population Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a substantial US healthcare burden, with about 40% of all US deaths annually as a result of cardiovascular events. Current initiatives examine not only pharmacologic treatment, but also lifestyle changes that are focused on the prevention of CVD in the elderly. This program is supported through an educational grant from Wyeth and King Pharmaceuticals.
