As the most accessible health care professional in virtually every community in the Untied States, the community pharmacist is the ideally positioned to address this public health need by offering adult vaccinations and immunizations in the pharmacy and other community settings. This education program will give the community pharmacist a set of take-home tools to launch a successful immunization and vaccination niche.

Opportunities in Pharmacy: Adult Immunizations and the Vaccination Niche in the Community Pharmacy

From the everyday concerns of a resurgence of mumps, the approaching flu season, pneumonia, the need for vaccinations for travel abroad to the more global issues of pandemic or greater public health concerns, the independent pharmacy is the ideal center for adult vaccinations and immunizations in the community. This program will give the community pharmacist take home tools to launching a successful immunization/vaccination niche.

Preparedness & Community Response to Pandemics

This introductory course on pandemic influenza will help the learner understand why this virus is capable of producing worldwide outbreaks. Participants will explore the epidemiology, historical context, and response efforts related to both seasonal and worldwide influenza outbreaks.
